Summary: The topic of modernization in the Panagyurishte region is voluminous and covers all processes taking place in the area. The purpose of the present article is to provide an overview of the modernization of the government, economy and education system in Panagyurishte.
Based on the brief presentation of the matter, the following conclusions can be drawn:
– Modernization is a complex phenomenon that reflects the historical, political, social, moral, national-psychological changes that shape people, their overall cultural behavior, their similar reactions not only in artistic expressions, but also in all other creative activities like verbalism, historiography, natural history, etc.
– Panagyurishte and its surrounding area are an integral part of the development and changes occurring within the wider Bulgarian spiritual and economic landscape during the 19th century.
– The 19th century saw a symbiosis between tradition and modernity.
