Summary: The agricultural modernization is a result of a complex development. One important aspect of it is information popularizing through the press and books. Another issue refers to the reforms in the education system as well as the establishment of specialized agricultural schools..

The article briefly presents the process of modernization of the Habsburg Empire School System with regard to agriculture and illustrates the reasons why it was so attractive to the 19th-century. Bulgarians. It focuses on two key topics: the education of Bulgarian pupils in the agricultural schools of Austro-Hungary and the increasing transfer of teachers from Central Europe to the Bulgarian lands up to 1878.

Finally, an evaluation is made of the agricultural transfer process from Central Europe to the Bulgarian lands.
