Summary: The 1783 Stanimirov Letter Book from Gabrovo is a hand-written book that consists of sample letters to various trade partners, administrative and religious authorities. The manuscript was created and passed from generation to generation within the Stanimirov family until 1931, when Stanimir Stanimirov, former director of the National Library in Sofia donated it to the institution. Now it is a part of the Manuscripts corps of the Bulgarian Historical Archives of the National Library “Sts. Cyril and Methodius”. When the document was fist investigated and catalogued, it was filed as written by Stani Stanimirov – grandfather of the donator. This article aims to prove by various arguments and approaches, that the real author was not Stani[mir], but his father Petko Stanimer.
