Summary: On the basis of archival materials of the Union itself and scientific literature, the study defends the thesis that the Union for the Protection of Nature, in the conditions of the establishment of the communist regime, restructured itself by massifying, using its old practices and cadres. Adopted the modern forms of organization of the time, but remained an apolitical society with propaganda and educational aims regarding the protection of nature. But its success in establishing its own branches in the country and not depending on its collective members was temporary. From 1948 onwards it entered the orbit of the Fatherland Front and was forced to vegetate, especially after the March 1950 plenum of the National Council of the Fatherland Front, as a result of which it virtually ceased to function without being officially closed down.
