Summary: The resettlement for political, economic or other reasons of a part of the Bulgarian population to America and Canada is one of the main aspects that are considered during the mentioned period (beginning of the 20th century). The factors for the formation of the Bulgarian emigrant intelligentsia, which laid the foundations and contributed significantly to the spread of Bulgarian public political and cultural activity, are traced. The inclusion of Bulgaria in the First World War and the Bulgarian propaganda is the dilemma that arises before the Bulgarians in America and after its inclusion in the military conflict ‒ whose side should the emigration take? A question that comes to the fore during the organization and implementation of the so-called “Loans of Freedom” and especially in the third and fourth, which bring patriotism to the fore and reflect the struggle for a final solution to the problem of the unification of the Bulgarian people.
